ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh increased to 30, 492 with 245 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior health department official said here on Friday.

The death toll in the frontier State rose to 133 with five more persons with comorbidities, including a lady from the Capital Complex region, West Kameng, Tawang and Lohit district, who succumbed to the disease in the past two days, the official said.

Barring one all the patients died while undergoing treatment at various health facilities, State Surveillance officer Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

The Capital Complex Region recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 35, followed by Namsai (29), Changlang (27), West Kameng (20), Upper Subansiri (17), Lower Subansiri (15), East Siang (14), Papumpare and Lohit with 13 each and Leparada with 10.

Eight each case were also reported from Lower Siang and East Kameng, six from Tirap, five each from Upper Siang, Lower Dibang Valley and Kra Daadi, four from Tawang, three from Anjaw, two each from Kurung Kumey, Longding and West Siang and one each from Kamle and Dibang Valley respectively, the SSO said.

Of the fresh cases 227 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 11 through RT-PCR and 7 through TrueNat method, the SSO said adding, 108 people have symptoms.

The active cases in the State now stand at 3,209, he said.

As many as 302 patients recovered from the disease on Thursday taking the number of recoveries in the state to 27,150, Jampa said.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the State stands at 89.04 per cent while the active percentage stands at 10.52 and the positivity rate at 3.64 per cent, he said.

The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 546, followed by Changlang (349), West Kameng (227), Tawang (221) and Namsai at 213 cases.

Altogether, 6,57,846 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the state so far, including 6,731 on Thursday, Jampa said.

State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that a total of 4,06,454 people have been administered Covid-19 vaccine doses so far in the state since the inoculation drive began in January.

The state as of Thursday has a total of 1,41,810 vaccine doses available including, 1,22,330 supplied from the Centre and 19,480 purchased by the state government from Serum Institute of India, Dr Padung added.
