ITANAGAR: Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi on Monday launched the tikautsav (COVID-19 vaccination drive) at KhandroDrowaTsangmo District Hospital, for inoculation of people in the age-group of 18 to 44 years.

The launching session was attended by DC Sang Phuntsok, District Medical Officer (DMO) DrWangdi Lama, Medical Superintendent Dr N Namshum and other senior doctors and officers.

The vaccines for 18-44 years would be available in the hospital from Tuesday afternoon while, for those above 45 years could get the jab in the morning session from Tuesday, vaccination nodal officer Dr Namgey Dakpa informed.

The MLA along with the DC later inspected the ongoing works in the IPD of the hospital and interacted with the doctors, an official report informed here.

Tashi informed that the entire district has been declared as containment zone and if anyone shows symptoms like Flu, should come forward for testing as early detection can save lives and people with combined efforts should prevent further spread of the virus.

Appreciating the dedication and service provided by the healthcare workers, Tashi encouraged the doctors to work more sincerely.

"Though the workload is more and the numbers of cases are increasing daily, we should keep working and try to give our best," he added.

Medical Superintendent Dr N Namshum and other senior doctors placed their suggestions and other requirements in the hospital especially for an emergency well equipped ambulance. Speaking to the doctors the DC said that they should take the criticism in good spirit, and not to be demoralized.

District Surveillance Officer (DSO) DrSangeyThinley while taking part in the discussion said that containment declared for fourteen days was not sufficient as incubation period of the virus is around 10-14 days.
