Create mass awareness on blood donation: Arunachal Governor

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra on Friday emphasized the need for creating mass awareness about blood donation and its importance.

Participating in a voluntary blood donation camp at Raj Bhawan here, which was organized on his initiative as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Mishra said that there would be a large number of blood donation volunteers in the districts.

Terming the blood donors as the 'life savers', the Governor urged the people to come forward and donate blood voluntarily, a Raj Bhawan communiqué informed here. "Requisite equipment must be kept in place to collect and preserve the donated blood," he said.

Mishra informed that he would be writing to all the Indian Army and ITBP units stationed in the state to respond positively to any call for blood donation in their area of deployment as an 'operational immediate requirement' so that no life is lost in remote areas due to lack of blood.

He commended the blood collecting organizations, particularly the doctors, nursing officers, technical medical staff and the volunteers of the Red Cross and Arunachal Life Saving foundation for participating in the humanitarian initiative of Raj Bhavan and conveyed his appreciation to every blood donor.

Directorate of Health Service, Indian Red Cross Society, State Blood Transfusion Council, Arunachal Life Saving foundation and doctors and technical officials of Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science (TRIHMS) and Ramakrishna Mission Hospital (RKMH) contributed to organizing the camp.
