ITANAGAR: The Dadda Welfare Society (DWS) has condemned the recent physical assault and threatening to one, Hofe Dadda who is working as a reporter in an online digital media outlet.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Club, DWS advisor Bruce Jilee Dadda said that the Police department should take stringent action against the accused so that they don't repeat such acts to muzzle the voice of a journalist or any other person in future. Bruce, who also is also a retired Lt Colonel, said that even the Army warns someone before taking any action against that person. What is so secret hidden inside the SMS smelters factory that the accused Nangram Tapuk had to physically assault Hofe Dada, he questioned.

"The physical assault of a media person in a broad daylight by the accused and three others clearly signifies that they have no respect for law and the media person," he said.

He added that the police should file the charge sheet in time and also mention the names of other people along with accused Nangram Tapuk which is clearly visible in the CCTV footage.

"The charge sheet also should mention the person who ordered the accused to manhandle Hofe Dada," he said, adding that if any harm happens to Hofe Dadda in the future, the blame will be on the staff and head of the SMS factory. He also said that the counter FIR by the SMS factory on trespassing by Hofe Dadda is not true. Everyone is aware that Hofe was making live coverage from outside the factory campus and which can be easily substantiated by the CCTV footage, he added.

"No doubt we will support the police team in the investigation process but, if something goes wrong with Hofe Dadda as threatened by the accused, the society will deal with the issue in local approach which also brings a positive outcome most of the times," he said

Meanwhile, the legal advisor of DWS youth wing, Tang Dadda thanked the entire people of State, media fraternity for their support. He also thanked the Nirjuli OC Minli Geyi and his team for arresting the accused within a day.
