ITANAGAR: The members of Arunachal Pradesh Micro and Small Industries Development Association (APM&SIDA) submitted a five-point memorandum to Textile & Handicrafts Minister Tumke Bagra on matters concerning the state industry sector.

Addressing the media at the press club on Monday, APM&SIDA president Lindum Rana said that the association felt that the industry sector was the most neglected department in the state. In a memorandum submitted to the minister, the association demanded for the conduct of a meeting to review state and centrally sponsored schemes (CSS) under the Department of Textile. It also demanded the implementation of the Prime Minister's Development Package (PMDP) schemes and other CSS.

The association also demanded to resolve issues regarding the state industry, implementation of public procurement policy and implementation of MSME facilitation Council Board. "Unless there is any review meeting on the schemes by the concerned department and press briefing by the minister concerned on it, how does one expect that the youths of state will avail the benefit? Therefore, the department concerned should conduct a review meeting immediately," he said.

Likewise, the department should also call meetings with the entrepreneurs as well as banking sectors for clear understanding on various state and centrally-sponsored schemes. He also informed that land for industrial estate acquired by the state government at Naharlagun was now occupied by people, leaving no place for entrepreneurs to invest on it due to the lack of land availability.

"It is very clear that the state government allotted the place to set up industrial units and not for personal benefits. Therefore, we demand the state government to demolish the private structures as well as to cancel the land allotment issued," he said, adding that the youths should be provided land for new start-ups.
