ITANAGAR: The state government, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, has been trying to provide much-needed infrastructure and furniture, particularly in the education and health sectors, Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Taba Tedir said on Thursday. Tedir's assertion came when Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso, accompanied by Doimukh legislator Tana Hali Tara and Raga lawmaker Tarin Dakpe, called him at his office and sought his support for providing infrastructure and furniture in various schools in their respective assembly constituencies.

Many schools were set up by previous governments in the past without any infrastructure, causing hardship to students and teachers, for which provision has been kept in the budget to develop all infrastructure, including buildings, the minister said, adding that funds would be provided equally to all the constituencies.

Techi Kaso sought a higher allocation for the capital region, which has many schools with higher enrolments. "Good schools and colleges set up in the Itanagar area drew all students from far-flung areas," Kaso pointed out. The government's higher secondary schools at Raga, Ligu, and Boasimla; government secondary schools at Dollungmukh and Godak; and upper primary schools at Puchigeko, Radum, Kumporijo, Yattap, Niji, Dokum, and Kemliko, despite higher enrollments, lack required infrastructure, Dakpe said and sought support from the minister.

After a thorough discussion about the posting of TGTs, PGTs, and subject teachers to various schools to fill up existing vacancies, Tadir said, "We are doing our best, have patience, and support the government to do its best."
