ITANAGAR: Irked by the lackadaisical attitude of the State government, the Aggrieved Compassionate Candidates of Arunachal Pradesh Police on Monday staged a dharna demanding early fulfilment of their charter of demands. The dharna will be held from February 27 to March 1, 2023, and if the authority fails to respond to the demands, the aggrieved candidates threatened to go on a hunger strike.

Speaking to the media, one of the aggrieved candidates informed that in 2019, the Department of Home assured them to sanction posts to employ compassionate ground candidates, but to date, there is no development. Moreover, the candidates also submitted a representation to DGP last year, which has not been responded as yet.

He questioned the home department over the increasing number of candidates. In 2019, there were only 183 candidates, but now it has reached 370. The numbers are increasing every year, how will the department fill it now?

“Such lackadaisical attitude from the state government will compel us to sit on hunger strike in the days to come,” he added.

While briefing about their demands, he said that the aggrieved compassionate candidates of Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) are demanding free and fair selection on compassionate ground, immediate conduct of the recruitment process of the sanctioned 21 posts laying in the department, creation of more posts to adjust more people under compassionate ground, conducting recruitment process on compassionate ground annually and resumption of Physical Standard Test which was proposed to be held on August 10, 2022.
