Disaster Management team visits flood-hit areas

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh department of disaster management has sanctioned an amount of Rs 15 lakh each for the house damaged by Siang River flood fury at Mebo sub-division under East Siang district.

The relief assistance sanctioned for the victims would be deposited in the bank accounts of the victims, an official release informed here on Thursday.

Disaster Management secretary Bidol Tayeng accompanied by director Kanto Danggen visited the flood affected villages of Mebo sub-division along with local MLA Lombo Tayeng on Wednesday.

The trio accompanied by Water Resource Department executive engineer T Jamoh, agriculture Dy. director Y J Lego, Namsing circle officer B Yirang and district disaster management officer (DDMO) Genden Tsomu visited eroded river banks at Borguli, Seram, Namsing, Ralling and Sigar villages and interacted with the flood victims.

East Siang DC Tamiyo Tatak has been asked to immediately assess agricultural land and crop damages by the erosion.

Hundreds of people have lost their valuables and agricultural land due to ongoing flood. The team could not reach some of the flood affected areas, like Partung riverine island due to turbulent current in the river.
