District Tobacco Control Cell conducts surveillance in Arunachal

Itanagar: The District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) of Tawang on Tuesday conducted its first ever flying squad/surveillance drive regarding compliance of sections 4 and 6 of COTPA act 2003 under the township area covering Old Market, Nehru Market, New Market and other areas of frequent public visit. The flying squad team was lead by Dr (Mrs) Dechin Droka, circle officer cum magistrate and accompanied by ASI Genden Chotta with three police personnel and members from DTCC Tawang, an official release informed.

During its four hours drive, the flying squad found no one violating the said sections of the act, the squad also gave awareness to the shopkeepers and asked them not to violate the rules and also informed that anyone found violating the law have to face the consequences. District Programme Officer (DPO) of National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) Dr Sangey Thinlay said that his team of DTCC is committed to declare ‘Tawang as Tobacco free district very soon’ which would add another feather in the district’s cap after winning for two times KAYAKALP awards by Khandro Drowa Tsangmu district Hospital.
