East Kameng District Administration launched Beautification mission at Seppa

SEPPA: As a part of the town beautification mission, "Town of Flowers," an initiative of East Kameng District Administration towards clean, green and colorful Seppa, was formally launched on the occasion of World Environment Day on Friday.

Launching the programme by planting a tree, Minister of WRD and Sports & Youth Affairs Mama Natung appreciated the district administration for the novel initiative and exhorted all to work with same zeal in nurturing and protecting the tree saplings in order to achieve the true goal of the mission.

He further appreciated all for their unrelenting support and participation and urged them to carry out such noble tasks in mission mode and spread wide awareness among the masses about the benefits of clean and green Seppa.

Highlighting the aims and objectives behind the celebration of World Environment Day, Minister Natung enlightened about the importance of forest in terms of its role as carbon sink and producer of oxygen and urged all to grow at least one tree each.

Terming the State as the lungs of the nation in terms of its vast forest cover, the minister exhorted all to say no to forest firing and urged them to voice against wanton destruction of forest.

MLAs Hayeng Mangfi and Goruk Pordung were present and also planted tree saplings along with the minister.

DC Gaurav Singh Rajawat, SP Piyush Fulzele, ADC Dahey Sangno and host of HoDs and government officials, public and members of EKSWCO, EKCC & I, WWO, AEKDSU, Mothers' Group, Azing 10 and other NGOs of the district were also present and witnessed the event.

The programme was launched by the district administration and DUDA, Seppa. On the occasion, tree saplings were also planted across the town by various NGOs. Individuals and NGOs have also adopted and assured to look after the nurturing of the trees.

As part of the mission, earlier all shops in and around the Seppa Township were painted with different shades of mesmerizing and enthralling colors.
