The East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu inaugurated the 5th batch of the three-day training-cum-capacity building for power department engineers of Aalo & Pasighat electrical circles under the central flagship Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) which is set be launched in the state by the Ministry of Power, Government of India on Thursday.

The three-day training is being imparted by the National Power Training Institute(NPTI-NER), Guwahati under the Ministry of Power, GoI on the topic, "introduction of Advanced Metering Infrastructure(AMI) in reducing Aggregate Technical & Commercial Losses (AT & C losses)" and improving quality, reliability, and affordability of power supply to consumers.

DC Tayi Taggu spoke on the importance of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Technology which will entirely upgrade and modernise the energy distribution system, thus enhancing consumer services.

The DC urged the Engineers to learn and adopt innovative & new technologies continuously for the benefit of electricity consumers. Guest of Honour Dr.B.N. Hazarika suggested tapping the abundant solar energy by using advanced technology.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director, NPTI, North East Region,(NER), Guwahati Sambit Diptiman Gantayat highlighted the objectives of the scheme which will improve the quality, reliability, and affordability of power supply to consumers through a financially sustainable and operationally efficient distribution sector.

The AMI is an integrated system of smart meters, data management, and communication between the utilities and the customers.
