ITANAGAR: A day-long workshop on ECHO digital training and monitoring platform immersion was organised by the state health department at a city hotel here on Thursday. Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) Director Dr. Moji Jini, while attending the programme, said that he was very happy to be a part of ECHO India and the National Health Mission's endeavour to strengthen healthcare capacity building in the state. Jini lauded the ECHO India team for bringing in a quality revolution in the training of health human resources with the intention to minimise dislocation of health HR from their posting place while transferring and updating them with the latest knowledge and skills of their chosen field. "This will help in avoiding disruption in the services of hospitals when key health HRs are engaged in training from a couple of days to a month. Such a situation is a nightmare for the hospital administrators, which is bound to be minimised if our health delivery system starts adopting the tools and techniques being professed by ECHO India," he said. He also opined that the collaboration between ECHO India and Arunachal Pradesh marked a significant stride towards advancing healthcare capacity building in the state by addressing the problem where, through an online training platform, medical knowledge and skills are made available to doctors and nurses at health facilities instead of weaning them off of such facilities.
In his address, Director of Medical Education, Research, and Training (DMERT), Dr. Hage Ambing, said that it was high time for the department to keep abreast of the latest technology to ensure more effective service provision to the people of the state. "Adopting this model of ECHO India in the capacity building of our human resources will be one of the desirable outcomes the state government envisages," Dr. Ambing added.
ECHO India is a non-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening the health system through capacity building and has partnered with NHM Arunachal Pradesh to conduct the day-long 'Immersion' training programme for senior state health officials. The objective of the training is to familiarise the officials with ECHO's innovative 'Hub and Spoke' model of capacity-building, which operates on an 'All teach, All Learn' framework. ECHO India and NHM Arunachal Pradesh have been working together on various initiatives to address the healthcare challenges in the region. Notably, their partnership began in 2022 with the successful implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination confidence and advocacy programme (VCAP).
