Election Commission of India (ECI) To Launch Electors’ Verification Programme

Itanagar: As a pre-revision activity of Special Summary Revision, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is launching the largest voter’s verification drive - “Electors Verification Program” (EVP) in a campaign mode across the country from September 1 to October 15 next.

The process would involve electors detail verification and to indicate corrections in details, including photographs and if required, authentication of entry as well, a press communique from Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) here informed on Saturday.

The process would also obtain details of family members and verifying their entries, removal of entries of shifted and dead electors, enrolment of un-enrolled citizen and to obtain details of prospective electors in the family.

“To obtain contact details/GPS coordinates (with smart phone) to provide better electoral services, To obtain inputs about inputs about existing/probable polling stations,” would also be done in the exercise. The communique added that the exercise has been launched to improve health of Electoral Roll and delivery of electoral services.

Electors can verify their details through “Voter Helpline” mobile app, NVSP portal or by visiting office of the Electoral Registration Officer

Electors can check, authenticate and verify their details online in just five easy steps, the communique added.

For identity proof, the electors could submit documents such as Indian passport, Driving license, Aadhar, Ration card, identity card for Government/Semi-Government officials, Bank passbook, Farmers ID card, PAN card, Smart card issued by RGI under NPR and latest water/telephone/electricity/gas connection bill for that address, either in the name of the applicant or that of his/her immediate relation like parents etc., the communique said. The benefits of verification for electors include, permanent log in facilities for registered voters, regular SMS based information/alerts, personalised contacts with BLOs/EROs, the communique added.
