Essay writing contest winners feted at Roing

ROING: Deputy Commissioner Mitali Namchoom felicitated the winners of online essay competition on the topic "Women role model" and "Is Gandhi still relevant?" organized during the celebration of International Girl Child day held at DCs conference hall on Wednesday.

While appreciating the winners, Namchoom said that the competitions have brought to light the many stories of everyday women inspiring others and also reminded them of the relevance of Gandhian principles even today in society.

She also appreciated the active participation of all students in the online competitions.

The DC said that through the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padao' (BBBP) programmes, the district administration and women and child development department has focused on women's education, their empowerment and economic independence. She also advised all to create awareness on BBBP and highlighted the various women related issues prevailing in the society. Later, she gave away certificates and cash awards to winners.

Achoya Niwi Muili, Matu Bordoloi and Moina Megu Lego were awarded for the competition on the topic "Women role model".

Salma Begum, Illa Menjo and Lokmi Pertin were declared winners in the junior category. Meanwhile, Sido Ripuk, Rahu Menjo and Bayyapu Shreyank won the essay competition for "Is Gandhi still relevant".
