Ex-Servicemen Rally Organized By Chowkham Bn At Tezu

KOHIMA: An Ex-Servicemen rally was organized by Chowkham Bn of the Spear Corps on Saturday at Tezu. A total of 45 Veterans, two Veer Naris and 16 Widows along with their family members attended the rally. The Veterans were reassured that they are and will always remain an inseparable entity of the Armed Forces fraternity and the organization is committed towards their welfare and well being.

The rally was organized in close coordination with the civil administration of Lohit, Namsai and Tinsukia Districts. The DCs and SPs of Lohit, Namsai, and Sadiya were invited to the rally. The event was focused on making the veterans aware of the various welfare schemes being undertaken as also to resolve any anomalies in the disbursement of pension to them.

The veterans were able to interact with officials at Suvigya Pension Enquiry Cell, representatives of Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme ex Dinjan and Zila Sainik Boards of Tinsukia and Dibrugarh. In addition, a medical camp was also organized in order to provide medicines and medical check-up to the veterans.

The rally provided the veterans with a platform to express their concern directly to the officials at the Grievance Redressal Cell. Brochures prepared by Army Placement Node, Jorhat were distributed among the ex-servicemen to apprise them of various job opportunities being created for them. ECHS and CSD Card Registration Centre were established for the convenience of the veterans. At the ESM Data Updation Centre, the ex-servicemen filled in forms and updated their particulars as per present status. SBI also established a kiosk to apprise the veterans of various government schemes for better financial management of their finances, stated a PIB (Defence wing) release.

A felicitation ceremony was also conducted during the rally to felicitate all successful candidates of the recently concluded IA Recruitment Rally at Tenga in which 22 candidates successfully passed all the tests and received their call letters to join the Indian Army. These talented youth were selected, trained and mentored by Chowkham Battalion under the aegis of Lohit Brigade. The ESM has wholeheartedly appreciated the army’s efforts in nurturing the talent of the youth and assisting them with single-minded commitment in securing employment. The ex-servicemen rally held at Tezu went a long way in re-establishing the bond between the past and present generations of the Army.
