Flood safety measures taken to protect Borguli village

PASIGHAT: After the sudden increase in water level at Siang River, it eroded the land inching closer to the houses and hampering the villagers' lives youths comprising more than 40 members carried out flood protection measures on self help basis to protect Borguli village and agriculture and horticulture land of village on Saturday. The protection measure was undertaken by using from locally available materials like bamboo, woods etc. The mighty Siang river with high wave is diverting course toward Borguli village from new site at Taleng bereng area that become new concern for Borguli village threatening existence and eroding the land. Massive erosion is witnessed due to high tide like wave of Siang at this location. Borguli youth are taking up this flood protection measure on war footing using wooden country boat as safety support risking their lives.
