Itanagar: Expressing strong resentment over wild charges levelled against Damin Block Development Officer (BDO) Lokam Kani for killing Paktu village gaon burah Bengia Tamang on April 26 this year at Pakpuh village in Kurung Kumey district, former zila parishad chairperson (ZPC) Sangha Tagik termed such allegation baseless and without any iota of truth.

Without any documentary proof such baseless allegation should not be levelled against a sincere state government officer, who has been working for the greater welfare of the people in remote parts of Kurung Kumey district, Tagik said in a statement here.

The case has been taken over by the SIT of police and completion of investigation would bring the truth to limelight and the guilty will be punished as per law. Moreover, the district magistrate had also issued prohibitory order during that period, he said.

He appealed the people not to accuse anyone of his involvement in the GB’s killing in greater interest of the district and urged the district magistrate to seize all unlicensed weapons available in the district.

However, the entire district was shocked and mourned the killing of GB, who was working for the people selflessly, he said, adding that whoever is responsible would also invite the curse of the people.
