'Four agencies executing Trans Arunachal Highway' Says CM Pema Khandu

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu Friday informed that the Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) is being executed in the state by four agencies namely state PWD, Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRTH), National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

The ambitious road project which would connect 16 districts of the state from Tawang to Kanubari in Longding district was announced by former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh here on January 2008.

Responding to a question from Congress MLA Nabam Tuki, Khandu, who also holds the PWD portfolio, informed that the length of the national highways under TAH entrusted to PWD was 978 kilometers out of which, 394.59 kilometers have been completed while the remaining length of 583.41 km is under construction in various packages. "The remaining portion is targeted for completion by the year 2024," he added. Replying to a supplementary, Khandu informed that the MoRTH during 2020-21 had allocated to the state PWD an amount of Rs 22.15 crore for periodical renewal and re-carpeting with another amount of Rs 15.50 crore for ordinary repair.
