ITANAGAR: Four fresh cases of COVID-19 positive cases reported in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday taking the total novel coronavirus cases in the northeast state to 61, a senior health official informed.

Out of the fresh cases, three were detected from worst affected Changlang district while one was reported from East Siang, he said.

The three from Changlang district were returnees from Noida in Uttar Pradesh while the other from Punjab, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr L Jampa said.

"All the positive persons were in quarantine facilities and shifted to Covid Care Centre. They are asymptomatic," Dr Jampa said.

As of now the state has 61 positive cases with 57 active cases while four patients were discharge after being cured, Dr Jampa added.

A patient was discharged after being cured on Tuesday while two were discharged from Covid Care Center on Wednesday after tested negative for two consecutive tests, the SSO said.

Till date, five COVID-19 positive cases were reported from the capital complex – comprising Itanagar and Naharlagun, 40 from Changlang, three from East Siang, two each Namsai and Lohit and one each from Lower Dibang Valley, Tawang, Upper Siang, Tirap and West Siang districts. While four patients were discharged after being cured.

The first case in Arunachal Pradesh was reported on April 2, when a 31-year-old man tested positive for the disease following his return from a religious congregation in Delhi. He was discharged from hospital on April 16.
