Four Prisoners Escapes District Jail At Tezu In Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: In a sensational jailbreak case, four prisoners escaped from the District Jail at Tezu in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh, by using a bamboo ladder at broad day light under the noses of district jail authority and police. The incident occurred on Tuesday in between 1.30 to 2 PM. Among the four escapes, Kalaiso Mepo, Dolu Chakma, Lombu Thapa was convicted under different cases and Pritamber Bhuiya was an under trial prisoner (UTP).

Lohit SP DW Thongon informed that after the inmates break out from the cell, the jail authority lodged an FIR at Tezu police station. “Acting on the tip off we launched a massive search operation to nab them. Entire exit points have been sealed. Jungle, river sites and full search operation in and around the township have been rigorously imitated”, informs the SP further.

Meanwhile, a high level source from Tezu cited utter negligence of the jail authority.

The source said the prisoner were in routine social service drive.

“Taking advantage of isolation they used makeshift ladder being used in the construction site in the jail premises to flee which is unfortunate,” rues the sources.

The Tezu jailbreak is not for the first time. On an earlier occasion, inmates escaped by digging the wall.
