Good response to ‘Mask for Arunachal Campaign’: Indian Medical Association

NAHARLAGUN: The Arunachal unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) while thanking the State government for directing compulsory use of face mask, said that the association has also launching an initiative to provide homemade masks to the people.

Addressing reporters on Saturday at Naharlagun, IMA president Dr Lobsang Tsetim said that the association has initiated a “Mask for Arunachal Campaign” which was very well responded by the people.

“Now it is compulsory for the people to put on face mask in public places and avoid spitting around,” he said while informing that those people found violating the order will be penalized Rs 100.

He said that people should be cognizant to follow such order to contain the spread of the pandemic. “The Mask for Arunachal Campaign” has also been well implemented in different districts of the State, he added.

Highlighting more on the campaign, Secretary IMA Dr Jego Ori said that the campaign which started on April 8, has been very well responded and the entire capital region has been covered under it.

Dr Jego also informed that the campaign is also supported by the volunteers of Arunachal Cancer Welfare Society (ACWS). The IMA along with the volunteers of ACWS not only provide face masks to the people but also visited various colonies and sectors crating awareness on it, he added.

“We have covered 52 places in Naharlagun and 26 places in Itanagar. The volunteers have also covered almost 354 sectors in the entire State.

He said that around 5,000 face masks have been gathered by the association through various organizations, entrepreneurs, public and self-help groups.

“The IMA has distributed almost 18,000 face masks to the people till date and is making all effort to cover the entire State,” he said while informing that the association also provides home delivery.
