Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra on Saturday extended his warm greetings to the people of the state on the festive occasion of Solung Festival.

In his message to the people, the governor said that the Solung Festival showcases the socio-cultural and religious life of our Adi brethren. “From time immemorial, Solung has been celebrated with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm in our state. Primarily, it is to appease the deities, for a bumper harvest of crops, abundance of livestock, peace, prosperity and well being of mankind as a whole,” he said in his message.

Dr Mishra underscored that the keen and total participation by the Adi community people, under the guidance of their elders, has kept this ancient tradition of the tribe alive.

“This has also helped the youth to understand and appreciate the sacraments of the festival, which stand for harmonious relationship between man and nature,” he said.

“On this joyous occasion, I join my Adi brothers and sisters, in offering prayers to the almighty Donyi Polo, Kine-Naane, Doying-Bote and Dadii-Bote to shower on all of us, their blessings for peace, harmony and prosperity,” the governor wished.
