Governor BD Mishra: Students academic interest should be top priority

ITANAGAR: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig (Retd) BD Mishra on Tuesday interacted on the theme, ‘The Role of Students in ensuring Discipline and Proper Academic Atmosphere in Higher & Technical Educational Institutions' with the students and the faculty of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Rono Hills, Doimukh, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Arunachal Pradesh and North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar.

Peace and tranquility on the campus must be maintained at all cost and the atmosphere of fear and uncertainty must be conspicuous by their absence. He said that at Educational Campus there should be no stoppage of classes, no violence, destruction, extortion or obstruction, no political agenda and no thought or action against the unity and integrity of the nation.

Student bodies must support socio-academic advancement, promote talent, dignity and positivity of individual students in the campus.The Governor underscored that the student bodies should take up programmes to honour academic performers, extracurricular activities’ achievers, gallantry awardees, social workers, and other innovative individuals amongst them. Student bodies must promote social harmony, literacy, women empowerment, and cleanliness. He further suggested that members of student bodies must always be the underwriters of the study as the first priority. They must be disciplined, committed to their social responsibility and have empathy and respect for other students constitution, Rules, Laws, Acts and good social order and above all be self disciplined.
