Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra concerned over audit objections by CAG

Itanagar: Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra on Monday expressed concern over the audit objections being raised every year by the Comptroller and Audit General (CAG) of India and asked the officials to resolve queries of the audit body at the earliest.

Convening a meeting to review and resolve the audit objections raised by the CAG at Raj Bhawan here, the governor asked the officials to meet the representatives of Public Accounts Committee of the Assembly and Accountant General periodically to ensure that the state has no fault on any matters of accounts and no audit paragraphs are imputed to the state’s financial management.

Dr Mishra advised the senior officials to put in concerted effort to ensure better financial administration, an official communique informed.

“By honest approach and perseverance the present problems have to be eliminated during the current year,” he pointed out.

The Governor said that the financial grants, which the state government receive is the tax payer’s hard earned money and it should be utilized with probity and transparency.

“No mismanagement or inaction will now be tolerated from any officer, department or institution,” he said and suggested for regular meetings of the PAC Chairman, Accountant General and officials of finance department to resolve the issues of audit objections.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Deputy Speaker of Legislative Assembly Tesam Pongte, Chairman of Public Accounts Committee Ninong Ering, Accountant General Purushottam Tiwary along with commissioner, secretaries and heads of departments attended the meeting, the communique added.
