Governor of Arunachal Pradesh bats for BADP programme in remote areas

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik Sunday emphasized the border area development programme in the state, saying that it will instill a sense of security among the people living in remote areas.

The governor's observation came during a meeting with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 56 Infantry Division, Major General V K Purohit, who called on him at Raj Bhawan here.

According to an official communiqué, Lt Gen Parnaik has asked army authorities to implement civic-action programmes for the welfare of the general public, in addition to working to foster public support for the armed forces.

The governor, during the meeting, discussed many pertinent issues in regards to infrastructure, livelihood, and vibrant village programmes in border areas of the state with the GoC.

Maj Gen Purohit briefed the governor on the activities taken up by the Army division in the districts covering Siang, Subansiri, and Kurung Kumey, according to the communiqué.
