ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with T S Sun (proprietor of Regalia building) of Shillong, for establishing a building exclusively for patients and attendants from Arunachal Pradesh.

The MoU was signed by Shillong Arunachal Bhawan Deputy Resident Commissioner Kajal Karmakar and T S Sun for Regalia.

Terming the event as historic, NEIGRIHMS Department of Cardiology assistant Prof Dr Toni Ete, who was instrumental in making it possible, praised Chief Minister Pema Khandu for the initiative and support and also the general administration secretary Sadhana Deori for the guidance.

Dr Ete said it was a long-standing requirement for patients coming from far-flung places from Arunachal to NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, with a lot of hope.

He hoped that the lease of the building will reduce the suffering of the people and also minimize the expenditure of the patients and attendants.

Dr Ete said that the building is in good condition and the charges will be minimal. The building will be officially available for accommodation from October 1 next, he added.

The guest house for the patients would be set up near NEIGRIHMS on rental basis, in a building with name as Hotel Regalia, having twenty five furnished rooms, reception area, kitchen, dining and parking space, under Sun's possession, who will also provide meals to the boarders at a nominal rate and also space for cooking by the boarders themselves if so desired.

The guest house taken on rental basis shall be inclusive of electricity charges, water charges, taxation charges, housekeeping, security and any other charges or taxes to be paid by the provider.

The building would accommodate only the patients and their attendants from Arunachal Pradesh visiting NEIGRIHMS for treatment.

The guest house has been taken on rental basis till construction of state's own guest house at its acquired land near NEIGRIHMS or expiry, extension and termination of the said agreement as deem fit by the State government.
