Itanagar: As part of the ‘Clean & Green Daporijo’ mission, the Upper Subansiri district unit of Galo Welfare Society (GWS) in Arunachal Pradesh has launched a cleanliness and plantation drive in their designated adoption area at the daily market.
The initiative is part of a larger effort by the district administration, which had earlier allotted specific areas to various registered tribal-based community organisations (TCBOs) across the district for year-long upkeep and beautification.
Participating in the drive, Upper Subansiri deputy commissioner Tasso Gambo highlighted that maintaining township cleanliness cannot be the sole responsibility of the urban development department.
He stressed the need for active public involvement and lauded the district administration’s initiative of assigning areas to stakeholders to ensure sustained community participation.
The DC appealed to the residents of the district to support the administration’s efforts, adopt civic sense, and work collectively toward making the district a model for cleanliness and beautification.
