Hallmarking training Programme in Arunachal

NAHARLAGUN: The Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs organized a one-day training programme for jewelers and goldsmith on ‘BIS hallmarking system and proper use of weights and measures’ at the conference hall of the department on Thursday. More than 50 jewelers/goldsmiths of the capital complex attended the training programme.
Controller, Legal Metrology & CA, Hoktum Ori, while welcoming the participants, appealed to all to make use of the programme especially in regards to hallmarking which has been introduced by the Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) for the protection of consumers as well as to boost the image of the country in the international bullion market.
KP Tago, Assistant Controller (HQ), highlighted on standardization of products with special reference to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Indian Standard (IS) through a PowerPoint presentation. Talking about national standards framed by the BIS, he urged the participating jewelers and goldsmiths to get themselves registered under the BIS hallmarking system to improve their product quality and to garner greater confidence from their customers.
