ITANAGAR: Adding problems to the much awaited National Highway construction from Chandranagar to Pappu Nallah, Itanagar Commercial Building Affected Owners Welfare Association (ICBAOWA) has asked the state government to immediately stop the eviction of building/structures on the left-hand side of NH-415 falling under the Right of Way (ROW).
Legal advisor of the association Likha Tabin while addressing the reporters told that, we are not against any development work but the state government should pay adequate compensation to the building owners. Tabing also informed that despite full support by the building owners in self-demolishment of the structure provided with proof to the District Administration (DA) and concerned verification authority state government is yet to compensate many of the owners.
“After the self demolishment a name list was notified for compensation but too much surprise the DA asked for No Objection Certificate (NOC). DA said that if the owners don’t provide NOC, 25 percent of individual compensation amount will be deducted,” Tabin informed. He also informed that a writ petition was filed at the High Court, Itanagar branch by the association. And accordingly the HC has ordered to hold the eviction order by the Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) cum Estate Officer till the case was totally solved. “But then despite the court order the DA is continuing the eviction which is an insult to the respected HC order,” Tabin added. The union also condemned the demolition of structures within the ROW endorsed by the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) during the early construction of NH-415. It has questioned if the State Government takes orders from the AAPSU.
