Itanagar: Delivering yet another blow to NSCN (K), the security forces conducted a successful operation in Khogla village of Tirap district on Wednesday and apprehended a hardcore militant of the outlawed Naga rebel group.
“Based on specific intelligence about presence of insurgents trying to terrorize (people) and carry out extortion in Khogla village, the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles swiftly launched an operation resulting in the apprehension of ‘Self-Styled Private’ Haejam Wangsa of NSCN(K) with a pistol, live ammunition, extortion notes, opium and other incriminating evidence,” informed Kohima based Defence spokesperson Col Chiranjeet Konwer.
During the course of grilling, the arrestee admitted allegiance to NSCN (K). He further divulged that he has been an active part of the outfit since 2014 and had also undergone three months weapon training in a NSCN (K) camp in a neighbouring country. Since the security forces have been carrying out aggressive operations in the South Arunachal Pradesh, this apprehension has struck a blow to the insurgent activities being carried out by the underground outfits in the region, the spokesperson added.
