Hibu Anna Bags Scholarship From Delhi Government

Itanagar: An Arunachalee student, Hibu Anna, has bagged a scholarship amounting to Rs 1.42 lakh from the Government of Delhi under its Play & Progress scheme. Dewarkar Sarkar, Commissioner of Sports on Sunday handed over the first cheque of Rs 1,42,500 to Hibu Anna at Common Wealth Sirifort Sport Complex, South Delhi, an official communiqué informed.

Daughter of Arunachal’s first IPS officer Robin Hibu, she is only one from the North East to be selected for this scholarship for her outstanding performances in the game of karate.

She has won so far 12 gold, 19 silver and 17 bronze medals in different karate championships at state, regional and national levels.

Hibu Anna was also honoured with the ‘best girl sports achiever award’ by the Apatani community during Dree Festival last year.

Continuing her unflinching hard work with ruthless discipline has earned her as youngest Black Belt in Karate three years back after six years of rigorous karate training at Sirifort Karate Academy, New Delhi.

“Small lead achievement for a girl ....I feel proud of her,” stated Hibu, the Special Commissioner of Delhi Police.
