NIRJULI: Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Mayor, Tame Phassang on Friday launched a Nahar oil-based –'SHL Nahar Soap' developed by Mechanical Department of North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) in the line of 'Vocal for Local' at NERIST campus here.
Appreciating the team of students from the Mechanical department for such innovative ideas, Phassang stated, "Developing such cost-effective commonly used items that too with Nahar Oil is really commendable job.
"Mostly we use Nahar trees for decoration purposes only, but today a team of Professors and scientists from NERIST proved that anything and everything is useful in this world with technology."
Phassang said that such innovation with local available resources is the true steps toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call of 'Vocal for Local'.
"I urge the local denizens to come forward and use such products to encourage and support local entrepreneurs. IMC will look forward and extend all possible support to the team for more such innovation and technologies," Phassang added.
President ACC&I TarhNachung also appreciating the team assured that he will extend all support for marketing if the team produces the soap for commercial purpose.
He also urged the other department to bring more such innovative technologies.
Meanwhile, Regional Coordinator-UBA, Professor PradipLingfa informed that the Nahar oil based Soap has been developed under UBA and sponsored by the Ministry of Education.
"Besides, soap we can also develop Biodiesel from Nahar oil and other products," Lingfa said, adding that under UBA at least five villages have been adopted where they help the villagers with research and technology.
Earlier, Professor (ME) Sandeep Singh elaborated all the procedures and components of the Nahar Oil Based Soap developed by the team.
