ITANAGAR: The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) has yet again appealed to the State Government to redress their demand for the lateral entry of officers under APCS (EG), cancellation of the out-of-turn appointments, and implementation of the old pension scheme in the state.

Addressing the media persons at the press club here today, CoSAAP President Likha Tech said that it has been more than four years that the department concerned has not yet finalized the eligible candidates for the interview. And, due to the delay, is hampering the overall administrative development in many districts of the state.

He said, according to the sources and response from the concerned department, the delay is due to the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in the court in the matter due to which the recruitment of 15 posts is being put on hold.

"Nonetheless, the delay is also hampering the aspirants in terms of upper age. Therefore, the department concerned should look into the matter and immediately conduct the examination as soon as the recent APPSC paper leakage fiasco comes to an end," he said.

While responding to the arrest of government officials recently for alleged corruption charges by the SIC in regard to the APPSC fiasco, Tech said that it is very unfortunate and the associations hope that they will be punished as per the CCS rules.

"We are also much thankful to the state government for announcing grant increase in DA, DR, HRA, and NPA for non-practising Doctors. It was among other demands of the association," he said, appealing to the state government to identify non-performing officials and accordingly punish them.

On out-of-turn appointments in departments, he said that the state government has already assured to cancel the appointments of such officials during a cabinet meeting this year. However, there is no information provided by the state government on the matter to date.

Thus, we appeal to the state government to update the public on the progress. Also, we also request the government to remind the respective head of departments for timely conduct of DPC meetings, at least twice a year," he said.

Meanwhile, CoSAAP General Secretary Gonya Riba said the New Pension Scheme (NPS) is not only a concern for the employees during service time but also after service (Pension). Moreover, NPS is more like investing in a share market where there is no guarantee of social as well as economic stability of the government employees.

He said that the association demands 'one nation, one pension' by implementing the old pension scheme (OPS). The associations are in talks with other Northeast states to voice against the NPS. States like Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Jharkand, and Punjab have already scraped the NPS by OPS.

"Therefore, we appeal to the State government to explore the pros and cons of the NPS and restore OPS for the greater social and economic stability of the government employees," he said.
