Implementation of NFSA in Arunachal assured
Itanagar, May 29: Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Commerce & Industry, Chhotu Ram Chaudhary, who arrived at Itanagar on Monday, took stock of the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State.
The union minister made an on-ground assessment of NFSA, 2013 in the State with special attention on issues and challenges being faced by the State for implementing the Act.
In this connection, the visiting dignitary had a meeting with the State minister of Food & Civil Supplies Kamlung Mossang, which was also attended by top officials of the department and FCI regional office, Itanagar.
The MoS said that his visit was aimed at assessing the ground realities on NFSA execution in the State and to apprise the government of special incentives required for the State, stated an official release on Tuesday.
Mossang said that the NFSA, 2013 is being implemented successfully in the State since 1st April, 2016 and highlighted the status of beneficiary selection and digitization, grievance redressal mechanism, reforms being carried out through end to end computerization of TPDS.
He raised various issues and challenges being faced by the department in implementing the Act in the State. It was also stated that the present scale of issue at 5-kg per month per person under Priority Household (PHH) category is not sufficient and enhancement to 10-kg per month per person was sought from the Centre.
