TEZPUR: East Tawang Brigade of Blazing Sword Division, organized Independence Day celebration at Lhou Gompa, Jungdha and Jung villages. The aim was to enhance awareness, foster bonhomie with sister forces, civil administration and the civilian population. The event saw active participation by local populace and various civil dignitaries.

A medical camp was organized for providing basic health checkup and informative exhibition. During the event, the enthusiastic students of the school marched to the tunes of the Army band and paid respect to the national flag. The event culminated with a distribution of sweets to the children and the locals. The civil administration and the local populace appreciated the initiative taken by the Indian Army and assured full support and co-operation to the armed forces for such initiative in future. The event was especially appreciated by the youth of the region, as it motivated them and strengthened their resolve to join the Armed Forces, PRO Defence, Tezpur, Lt Col Harsh Wardhan Pande said.
