ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr. B.D. Mishra on Friday greeted the people of the State on the occasion of 'RashtriyaEktaDiwas' (National Unity Day), to commemorate the birth anniversary of SardarVallabhbhai Patel.

He expressed his confidence that the 'Remembrance Day' will continue to strengthen the spirit of unity and nationalism amongst the people of the State.

In his message to the people, Dr Mishra said that Sardar Patel, who is popularly known as the 'Iron Man of India', was the stalwart who unified India. He was a brilliant administrator and a leader of the masses, who never compromised when it came to safeguarding rights of the poor and downtrodden.

"The posterity of India will always remember Sardar Patel's unparalleled contribution," the governor said in his message.

Dr Mishra further said that the celebration of 'RashtriyaEktaDiwas' is always an occasion to revisit the freedom movement and to understand and eliminate the threats to the national integrity and sovereignty.

"This is an opportunity to motivate the youth of the nation towards the ideas and ideals that are foundational concepts of our national solidarity," he added.

"On this occasion, let us dedicate ourselves to preserve our sovereign democratic republic and ensure unhindered security of the nation. Let us also spread the national unity vision of SardarVallabhbhai Patel among our fellow countrymen," he appealed.
