Itanagar: The Indigenous Faith Day was celebrated on Saturday throughout Arunachal Pradesh with day-long programme.
The event was organised at Zomkhang hall Tawang, whichwas graced by Venerable Dr Rikya Lhavoi Rinpoche and Padmashree Ven Lama Thupten Phuntsok, the founding Director of Manjushree Vidyapeeth, an official release informed. Speaking on the occasion Dr Rikya and Phuntsok stressed on the importance of the day being celebrated and appealed the youths to preserve and promote ther rich cultural heritage of the state. Dorjee Khandu Government College’s Principal Dr Yeshi Gyaltsen in his deliberation said, “Change in society is a continuous process but it should not be at the cost of one’s culture and faith. Other resource persons present were Geshi Thupten Gendun teacher Tawang monastery, Rinchin Norbu Secretary Monpa Mimang Tshokpa and Phuntso Dhondup.
President of All Monpa Students Union Urgen Dorjee and its vice president Tenzin Dhargey also spoke about the urgent need of preserving culture and tradition in this fast moving century of multi cultured civilization, the release added.
