Inter-State drug racket busted in Changlang; Kingpin & 3 peddlers arrested

ITANAGAR: Sleuths of the Anti Drug Squad (ADS) apprehended four persons involved in drug trafficking, including the kingpin; and recovered contraband drugs and cash from their possession on Wednesday, informed a senior Police official of the Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh

Based on specific inputs about drug trafficking at MC Road near the Namdang Gate in the district, the ADS team led by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Changlang Police Station Inspector CA Namchoom conducted raids in the area. They apprehended Duyu Sunny (30), Sentum Poyun (35) and Tuleshwar Chetia (38) on Tuesday. Contraband drug weighing approximately 141 gram were recovered from their possession along with cash amount of Rs 25,000, Changlang Superintendent of Police (SP) Mihin Gambo informed.

On interrogation, the arrested drug peddlers admitted that the brown sugar was purchased from Assam and brought up to the Namdang check gate by their agents.

Based on their disclosures, the ADS personnel arrested the kingpin of drug trafficking, identified as Techom Tangha (49), from Changlang town, the SP said, adding that the ADS team also seized a vehicle, a motor cycle and four mobile phones from the traffickers.

A case has been registered under the NDPS Act. Further investigation is on.
