ITANAGAR: The Indian Air Force is using its Special Forces in these operations and has provided them with the most modern weapons, including the American Sig Sauer assault rifles and the most recent AK-103, whose most recent version, the AK-203, will be produced in the nation as part of the Make in India programme.

The Garud Special Forces of the Indian Air Force have been stationed in high-altitude positions near the China border for specialised operations on the Line of Actual Control since May 2020 after demonstrating their mettle in counterterrorism operations in the Kashmir valley and air base security.

The Indian Air Force is using its Special Forces in these operations and has provided them with the most modern weapons, including the American Sig Sauer assault rifles and the most recent AK-103, whose most recent version, the AK-203, will be produced in the nation as part of the Make in India programme.

IAF authorities told the media that the Garud Special Forces were stationed in the frontline regions along the China border, from Eastern Ladakh to Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, where they would conduct specialised missions if necessary.

Since 2020, when the Indian Air Force aggressively deployed itself to confront Chinese aggression in the area, these troops have been stationed on the LAC.

According to insiders, the Air Force is arming its Garud commandos with new weapons and equipment.

The latest weapons, including Sig Sauer, AK-series assault rifles, Israeli Tavor rifles, and their various variations, according to the officials.

The forces also have Galil sniper rifles and Negev light machine guns, which can kill enemy soldiers at a distance of 800-1000 metres.

In the infamous Rakht Hajin operations in Jammu and Kashmir, where the Garud squad killed five terrorists and Corporal Jyoti Prakash Nirala received the Ashok Chakra posthumously, the Guards employed the Negev LMG.
