Land Affected People of Sibe Circle (LAPSC) seek government intervention

ITANAGAR: Land Affected People of Sibe Circle (LAPSC), Lower Siang has sought intervention of the State government and NHPC power developer to abstain misusing of government fund in the name of compensation in 2000 MW Lower Subansiri Hydro Project.
Addressing a press conference, Spokesperson of LAPSC, Tenken Nada claimed that Center is all set to release Rs 528 Crore against the medicinal plants spread in the affected areas of ongoing 2000 MW Subansiri Hydro project. “There is no such huge availability of medicinal plant in the area so spending money in the name of compensation is mare eyewash to siphon off government fund by few vested interest people,” Nada alleged.
“We urge the authority to re-certify and re-survey the area so that such huge fund wouldn’t be wasted in fake compensation, instead it should be use in proper development project” he added.
Further, they also alleged that NHPC is also going to release land compensation amount worth Rs 16 crore to the affected people in Ossumpuri Village of Sibe circle. “However, it is very surprising that local MLA has identified community land as his own property to grab huge compensation amount that too without any concern with local villagers. Out of 39 affected people, most of the names are kith and kin of local MLA,” alleged the affected people while demanding the state government to hold the compensation.
“The alleged land is not under affected areas, the local representative has presented the fake list just to grab the compensation. Moreover, MLA does not possess any land in the said village, how can he claim community land of other village as his own property,” claimed Gike Nguri native of Ossum Puri Village.
Further, he informed that they have already submitted complaint to Chief Secretary, NHPC authority and concerned Deputy Commissioner related to the fake compensation issue. They also urged the authority to release the compensation to the genuine affected areas of 615 hectors.
Meanwhile, local MLA, Kardo Nyicyor has categorically refuted the allegation and termed it as baseless without any iota of truth. ‘The said compensation belongs to the villagers, I have nothing to do with it and it was the villagers of Ossumpuri who designated me on behalf of the villagers to put my name and collect the compensation when I was Anchal Samiti Chairperson ‘clarified MLA.
He further stated that the said forum is fake and he is going to file defamation against those who are creating wrong information amongst the villagers for their personal benefits.
