Three vehicles were washed away by mudslips on Saturday evening, Bhalukpong police station officer incharge D Bagra informed.

The vehicles including, an oil tanker, a Bolero pick-up and a Maruti van were washed away while crossing the block point at 46 km point near Lumum waterfall, the OC said adding that the drivers of the vehicles escaped unhurt.

The BCT road, which is the lifeline for civilians as well as Defence forces, connecting Bhalukpong in the West Kameng district to the Tawang district bordering China, has been largely affected by landslides at several stretches of the road, West Kameng DC Karma Leki informed.

The West Kameng district administration has prohibited movement of traffic along the road and requested the commuters not to travel through the road till further notice.

The DC advised the commuters to use the Orang-Kalaktang-Shergaon-Rupa-Tawang (OKSRT) road.

Leki informed that Border Roads Organization (BRO) has pressed its men and machineries to clear the block points and restore traffic movement at the earliest.
