Lohit police launches drive to create awareness on drugs

ITANAGAR: The Indiabull riders of Durgapur chapter led by Partha Sarathi Roy are riding up the Anjaw hills in Arunachal Pradesh, meeting administrators and social leaders to create awareness among people against drug abuse and illegal trafficking.

The social initiative inspired by Lohit district SP Ankit Kumar Singh and supported by NGOs and youth of the area, was flagged off Wednesday morning by students of Kasturba Ganhi Valika Vidlaya (KGBV) and Apna Vidya Bhavan, Wakro.

The SP conveyed that the good move would definitely change the mindset of people doing much good for society and would also encourage people to eradicate the drug menace.

"It is so good to witness this kind of initiatives and participation from various sections of the society," the SP said while exression his happiness.

Partha Sarathi Roy handed over the no addiction campaign cards to the ADC office at Hayuliang in Anjaw district.

ADC Sotailum Bellai assured that the cards would be distributed among panchayat and social leaders of the subdivision to create awareness on the issue.

Riders Roy, Ashish Bhattacharjee, Santu Ghosh, Sourav Paul, Sandip Kumar Basu, Kaustav Paul and Aryan Basu will ride up to Walong to handover the awareness cards to Walong circle officer (CO) Taba Milka to undertake the campaign at Walong and Kibithu circles.

The team would also meet social leaders in Tezu circle to campaign for the cause.

The campaign cards were earlier distributed to gaon buras and panchayat leaders at Wakro by by volunteers Andhiso Dellang, Ashok Yun and Binod Kumar Subba. The people of the area appreciated and lauded the Arunachal Pradesh Police for its continuous efforts to discourage drug abuse and stop illegal trafficking in the region.

The care and concern to save the young generation and society is visible from the fact that the Lohit Police instead of keeping it as a one-day or weeklong affair, instead making persistent effort to address the urgent issue which is posing great threat to society especially at times when the youths are getting trapped into drug and opium addiction, informed a press release here.
