LONGDING: Deputy Commissioner Bani Lego held a meeting with the Longding district Bazar Committee and the owners of the wine shops and pharmacies in order to take stock of the progress of CCTV installation as per the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) annual action plan on Thursday.

During the meeting, the DC asked the wine shop owners to refrain from selling alcohol to individuals below the age of 18. He also directed the owners to adhere to the rules and not sell alcohol above stipulated limits. Likewise, he cautioned the pharmacy owners to refrain from selling H1 medicine without the prescription of registered medical practitioners.

He also emphasized the illegal sale of alcohol in shops, restaurants, etc. without a permit. And stringent actions will be taken as per the law if anyone is found to violate the laws. “I request everyone to cooperate with the administration in keeping the children away from harmful substances like alcohol, gutka pan masala, etc. The district administration will conduct surprise checks from time to time to ensure that all the directions issued are being followed,” he said.

The DC also highlighted the illegal selling of petrol and diesel in the district. Among others, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Administrative Officers, Supt. Tax and Excise, DCPU members, and members of the Bazar Committee.
