Mahila Congress leader clears air on social media ‘rumours’

ITANAGAR: All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) secretary general Jarjum Ete on Thursday clarified that she never spoke about granting or supporting PRC to the Non APST settled at Lekang circle of Namsai district.

Her clarification came following allegations on social media that she supported the granting of PRC. Addressing reporters here at the Press Club, she said, “In 2017, during a Congress rally, I asked the people of the area to support Bida Taku as I have great respect for him and his work for the public,” she said. She requested the people not make any allegations without knowing the full truth. “The negative remarks on my dignity and my work for the indigenous people of the State spreads a negative message to the people,” she added.

Ete said that the video went viral on social media few days after the anti-PRC protests rocked the State.

Meanwhile, when questioned on her candidature for the Lok Sabha election from the West constituency, Ete said she has applied for a Congress party ticket.

It may be mentioned that in the video that went viral, there is not a single word uttered by Ete supporting or demanding PRC for the denizens of Lekang circle.
