Arunachal Pradesh: Major Breakthrough in Burglary Cases, Multiple FIRs Registered

RUKSIN: The Ruksin Police of East Siang District achieved a major breakthrough in recent shop burglary cases after putting in sustained efforts on various leads.

Multiple FIRs were registered in Ruksin PS after the shopkeepers of Ruksin Township were informed about a series of thefts in the recent past. It is learned from various sources that cases of similar nature were reported from places like Jonai and the Simen Chapori areas of Assam as well.

A person named Birakhat Rabha at Bishnu, S/o Lt. Barjen Rabha, age 62, R/o Village Barjapachi, Sompok Nagar, Jirania, Tripura, was arrested. On sustained interrogation, he revealed that he committed those burglaries to make up for the loss that he recently incurred in the piggery business.

The culprit had a unique modus operandi in which he used to enter the shop through its ceiling during the night. At first, he would cut down the wires of CCTV cameras using a cutter and then take away leftover cash from the counter of the shop without touching other items in the shop.

He used to sleep at a nearby railway station and travel on a train from one destination to another in order to commit crimes. He committed burglaries all alone, without any accomplices.

Many CCTV footages were analysed, and photos of the culprit were circulated among the general public. More than 20 suspects with similar physical attributes were rounded up and interrogated in detail.

Information gathering through human and technical intelligence was done. Finally, with active support from the Assam Police of Dhemaji District and particularly SDPO Jonai and his team, the culprit was caught on Monday night in Simen Chapori, Dhemaji District.

With this arrest, more than five cases in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have been solved. Further interrogation is on.
