Meet to Organize Tawang Maitree Diwas held At Tawang

Itanagar: A preliminary meeting for organizing Tawang Maitree Diwas 2019 was held on Tuesday at Tawang district which was chaired by deputy commissioner Lobsang Tsering.

Addressing the meeting, the DC sought cooperation from all the heads of the departments for successful conduct of the event while, representatives of Tawang Brigade Army headquarters informed about various programmes to be presented from the Army during the celebration.

President of YUVA Arunachal Tsetan Chombay in his address said, “Tawang has been celebrating Maitree Diwas since 2003 under the chief patronage of the then Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and due to his sudden demise the celebration was discontinued for two years. However, it was later revived by present Chief Minister Pema Khandu when he was minister of Tourism and thus it became an annual calendar now, in which many high dignitaries also participated. This is a celebration of civil-Army bonhomie and friendship”.

The meeting was also attended by president Monpa Mimang Tsogpa (MMT) Rinchen Dorjee, representatives from Army, NGOs and all head of the departments, an official communique informed here.

A core committee under the patronage of Pema Khandu and sub-committee for smooth and successful conduct of the event were also constituted during the meeting.

The meeting was followed by another review meeting on traffic regulation, security and accommodation management during Tawang festival 2019, which will begin from October 28 next, the communique added.
