Ministry of Home Affairs directs National Investigation Agency to probe Bogapani ambush case

BORDUMSA: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to investigate the assassination case of Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh and 10 others.

Aboh along with 10 others including his son were killed by suspected NSCN (IM) cadres at Bogapani in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on May 21 while they were returning home before the day the Arunachal Assembly election results were to be declared.

The MHA through a formal letter addressed to the NIA DGP dated 6th June 2019, ordered the investigate stating, “The Central Government is of the opinion that the offence falls under the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008 and having regard to the gravity of the offence, which involves striking terror in the State, it is required to be investigated by National Investigation Agency in accordance with the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008.”

It may be mentioned here that the Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet on June 2 had decided to recommend the case to the NIA.
