DOIMUKH: "We have witnessed the importance of farming during the last lockdown in the state. Therefore, rather than being dependent on other States for essential items, the local farmers should also encourage our youths to be self sufficient," said Doimukh constituency MLA TanaHali while attending the animal health awareness camp-cum-farmers' training programme organized by the department of Animal Husbandry & Dairy Development (AHV &DD) at Mani village near here recently.

Hali, who is also the advisor to the minister for AHV &DD, appealed to the farmers to timely vaccinate their animals for the animal' good health and sustainable development.

He said that the vaccination will add immunity to them to fight diseases like 'Foot & Mouth', which commonly affects animals. It is necessary that all the animals are safe as the State fights against the COVID-19 pandemic. A proper animal husbandry is very important for good production and also to generate income for the farmers, he added.

Meanwhile, Director AHV & DD Dr.NDMinto said that the department is planning to establish sufficient numbers of dispensaries to provide proper treatment to the animals. But due to insufficient funds, the department could not materialize it, he said, adding ''However, there are still several dispensaries for treatment of animals in the State and the farmers can avail the facility for their farm animals.''
