Mock exercise on earthquake conducted in Pasighat

PASIGHAT: A multi-state mock exercise on earthquake was conducted in five chosen incidents sites, where these hypothetical sites were DC Office, Gandhi Chawk, Family Mart, govt. upper primary School and Bakin Pertin general Hospital of Pasighat.

Mock drill on earthquake was organized by District Disaster Management Authority of East Siang District complying with the direction of State Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority under the aegis of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

For the conduct of mock exercise, Incident Response System of East Siang had been activated where the Incident Response team members had been given their roles and responsibility to carry out during the mock drill. In addition, supporting agencies like SDRF, Police personal, NCC, PRO and AAPDA MITRA volunteers were involved and efficiently participated. For the mock drill demonstration, JCB, dumper truck, ambulance, hearse van and three super deluxe size bus were also used.

AAPDA MITRA volunteers displayed the process and procedure of rescue operation and how to deal with such disasters. Methodical search operation, evacuation and rescue operation were demonstrated. The district fire brigade team demonstrated the process of extinguishing fire during fire accidents.

Throughout the mock exercise, DDMO T. Tashi also sensitized and carried out awareness on the earthquake to public and also appealed to them not to panic during conduct of mock exercise. In addition, along with telling the do's and don'ts to the public, he also appealed to the public to be alert and aware.
