Itanagar: The apex body of the Monpa community – Monpa Mimang Tsogpa (MMT) – on Thursday adopted the Jang Government Higher Secondary school in compliance with Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s advice to the CBOs to do so. Khandu in his address during the first foundation day celebration of MMT on September 13 this year advised the CBOs to adopt government schools for its better functioning and on October 11, the MMT Dirang unit adopted the Dirang Higher Secondary School in presence of local MLA Phurpa Tsering. “We are in a process to adopt the Kalaktang Government Higher Secondary School,” informed MMT President Rinchen Dorjee.

The formal adoption programme at Jang HS School on Thursday was attended by Tawang DC Tawang Lobsang Tsering in presence of Jang ADC Lobsang Wangchu.

“Knowledge speaks and wisdom listens, so we should listen to our elders. School is a temple of learning and with our combined efforts we all should contribute to increase the sanctity of this temple. Inner wisdom and selfless work towards the uplift of society should be our priority,” Dorjee said.

“Parents should play their role more actively and should not leave the education to their children in school only. Education means all round development and we have to educate our children in social conduct and moral and family values besides bookish knowledge,” Dorjee added.
